Jan Meere

Profile: Jan Meere

Jan (pronounced "Yahn") joined The Internationals™, and was almost instantly drafted into The Chico Bavarian Band.

Trumpet,  Flugelhorn
Baritone Horn,  Alto Sax
Tenor Sax,  Percussion
Synthesizer
(Glockenspeil, Harp, Zither, Sitar, Cow Bell, Spoons,  ...well,
you get the idea)

It works out well for both bands because he can switch between brass instruments -- trumpet, flugelhorn, baritone, or even valve trombone -- depending on what that particular number calls for. And when we get a number that has a particularly tough sax part, we give that to Jan too... because we like to watch the expression on his face when he gets to the really fast parts! (Tough crowd, eh?)

Jan is especially known for his versatility. In addition to most brass instruments and several types of saxophones, Jan can sit in on drums, peruse an electronic keyboard, play auxiliary percussion, sing lead and backup vocals (in several languages), throw in an occasional yodel, and still manage to find the time and coordination required to queue the spinning lights and fire up the smoke machine (!).

You would think that, with all he does, Jan would burn out. But fortunately for us, he's fueled almost entirely by beer (with an occasional Jager Tee "pick me up", of course)!
