Profile: Portor Goltz

Portor is the percussionist for both The Chico Bavarian Band and The Internationals™.

He provides the heartbeat of the band, and the group probably tends to take him for granted: They really should make a point of appreciating any drummer who can play in his sleep! (No kidding!)

Portor is an exceptionally talented, and seriously dedicated, percussionist. But then you have to be dedicated to play drums in a band -- have you ever seen how much stuff they carry around? Setting it up and taking it down is almost as much work as playing it. We're all certain that, on some days, Portor wishes he had just learned piccolo!

And oh by they way, he makes playing a trap set look easy, which it most certainly is not. But when Portor plays, he looks as if he's merely relaxing and taking in the sights... all while never missing a beat no matter what the genre or tempo may be at the time.

In addition to his duties as percussionist extroardinaire, Portor also works with Steve McGinnis as the bookings agents for both bands.
